Exploded views are a good way to understand products. An exploded view is a type of representation in drawings and graphics that shows a complex object broken down into its individual parts (also shown in perspective).

With today’s possibilities, however, it is possible to bring exploded views to life. For this purpose, the products are captured in 3D and broken down into each individual part in 3D. Depending on requirements, only parts of a product. The individual parts are now placed in the correct order in relation to each other as in a conventional exploded drawing. But this is already happening in 3D. The major advantage is already immediately apparent. This is because such a 3D exploded view can be freely rotated and thus viewed from all directions and angles. 3D exploded drawings therefore offer a major advantage over normal 2D exploded drawings. The user is free to choose whether to use a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet via augmented reality or to carry out the repair on a computer via a web application. The manufacturer could also implement this function in its own mobile app and thus increase customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. The application possibilities are almost unlimited.

But much more is possible with a 3D exploded view. This allows text notes to be added at certain points on the product captured in 3D, for example for maintenance purposes. Additional images or links can also be integrated there.

Another advantage of a 3D exploded view is the animation. This means that even a complex product can be assembled virtually in 3D. Another advantage for understanding the respective product and its function. The animation can be switched from automatic to manual playback. Simply press the pause button.
