Project Description
3D scan of a cylinder head (reverse engineering)
For this project, a cylinder head was precisely digitized using 3D scanning and then fully reverse engineered. The aim was to create a clean, parametric CAD model as a reliable basis for further processing and production.
Cylinder heads are among the most complex engine components: Functional surfaces, bores, cooling channels and sealing areas must be precisely aligned with each other. Reverse engineering enabled the scanned actual data to be converted into a technically usable target geometry.
The result is a production-related CAD model, suitable for spare parts production, technical adjustments, dimensional and functional testing and further design steps.
Areas of application:
-
Reverse engineering & CAD redesign
-
Spare parts production
-
Dimensional and functional check
-
Design adjustments & optimization
The scan is available in the following 3D viewer for viewing and checking the geometry. This is the 3D scan after reverse engineering.
