Project Description
3D scan of a technical component – Precise digitization for construction and re-design
For a client in industrial product design, we have digitized a functional plastic component with high precision using 3D scanning. The captured data serves as a basis for CAD design, reverse engineering, and additive manufacturing (e.g., 3D printing).
Technology used:
We used a professional 3D scanning system with structured light projection, which provides sub-millimeter resolution. The component was captured all around to fully digitize all geometries – including hidden or hard-to-reach areas.
3D scan of component can be used for:
-
Reverse engineering
-
Digital component measurement
-
CAD model from scan data
-
3D digitization for product design
Special features:
-
Delicate structure with snap connections and technical fitting surfaces
-
Freeform surfaces and functional geometries for mechanical integration
-
Ideal starting point for CAD reconstruction and FEM analyses
Result for the client:
The generated 3D model is available as STL and STEP file – directly usable in all common design and simulation programs. For the client, this means:
-
Time savings in product development
-
Revision-proof archiving
-
Easy reproduction through 3D printing or CNC
Additional services at Scanmotion:
