Project Description
3D scan of a technical component – precise digitization for construction and redesign
For a customer from the industrial product design sector, we digitized a functional plastic component with high precision using 3D scanning. The captured data serves as the basis for CAD design, reverse engineering and additive manufacturing (e.g. 3D printing).
Technology used:
We used a professional 3D scanning system with fringe light projection, which delivers a resolution in the submillimeter range. The component was captured in its entirety in order to fully digitize all geometries – including hidden or difficult-to-access areas.
3D-Scan component can be used for:
-
Reverse engineering
-
Digital component measurement
-
CAD model from scan data
-
3D digitization for product design
Special features:
-
Filigree structure with snap-on connections and technical mating surfaces
-
Free-form surfaces and functional geometries for mechanical bindings
-
Ideal starting point for CAD reconstruction and FEM analyses
Result for the customer:
The generated 3D model is available as an STL and STEP file – directly usable in all common design and simulation programs. For the customer this means
-
Time savings in product development
-
Audit-proof archiving
-
Simple reproduction using 3D printing or CNC
