Project Description
3D scan of a Wankel rotor combustion chamber
For this project, a combustion chamber of a Wankel engine was digitized with high precision using 3D scanning. The aim was to capture the complex internal and functional geometry in detail as a basis for technical analysis and further processing.
Precise transitions, radii and sealing surfaces are particularly crucial for Wankel components, as even minor deviations have a direct impact on tightness, wear and performance. The 3D scan enables complete geometric documentation – even in the event of wear or temperature-related changes.
The result is a detailed 3D model suitable for reverse engineering, geometry comparison, wear analysis, CAD reconstruction and production preparation.
Areas of application:
-
Reverse engineering & CAD reconstruction
-
Analysis of functional and sealing surfaces
-
Geometry comparison (target/actual)
-
Wear and damage documentation
-
Production preparation & spare parts development
The scan is available in the following 3D viewer for viewing and checking the geometry. This is the unprocessed 3D scan.
