Project Description
Cast_CAD – CAD data fed back from 3D scan
For this project, a cast component was digitized using a 3D scan and then fully reverse engineered. The aim was to create a clean, production-related CAD model that correctly depicts the real geometry of the cast part and makes it usable for design purposes.
Cast parts often have irregular surfaces, beveled shapes and casting-related deviations. Through reverse engineering, these properties could be interpreted in a targeted manner and transferred into a technically defined CAD geometry – including functional surfaces and relevant references.
The result is a structured CAD data set, suitable for spare parts production, adjustments, geometry comparison and constructive further development.
Areas of application:
-
Reverse engineering of castings
-
CAD traceability & new modeling
-
Spare parts and small series production
-
Dimensional and shape inspection
-
Constructive optimization
The result can be viewed and checked in the following 3D viewer. The reverse CAD model based on the 3D scan (reverse engineering) is shown.
